On December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks was arrested for refusing to give up her seat on a Montgomery bus, sparking the Montgomery Bus Boycott. The boycott lasted an astonishing 384 days and to many it represents the beginning of the Civil Rights Movement. On the 59th anniversary of this important event in American history, we wanted to share some of the great books and DVDs available about Rosa Parks, the bus boycott, and the civil rights movement. Stop in and ask for additional suggestions — we love to help!
